It was earlier thought that the words fishing and luxury could not appear in the same sentence because one refers to worldly comforts and the other to getting down and dirty along riverbanks. But the tourism industry has overcome bigger problems and their concept of luxury fishing vacations is fast becoming a phenomenon the world over.
Fishing has been a popular ‘past-time’ activity for many years, with people all over the world turning to it as a sort of relaxing adventure. With the rising fame of certain parts of the world as fishing and water-sport hotspots the private fishing industry has boomed. People engage in travel to the remotest parts of the world in order to get that one big catch igniting worldwide fishing trips. This had lead to the introduction of vacation packages centered on fishing, designed to please everyone from families to seasoned fishermen. Many of these vacations also include activities such as rafting, scuba diving and nature trails for environmental awareness. Some fishing vacations are also based in beach towns and fishing villages that offer traveler a chance to experience the local life as well as the fishing. What’s more is that such resorts have activities that can keep children and other members of the group that do not wish to fish occupied.
Luxury fishing vacations refer to the luxury cruises aboard yachts and cruise liners focused on customer comfort. These are exclusively marine trips, although some will spend at least a day or two near estuaries and riverbanks. Fishing stations are set up at the bow and travelers are encouraged to dip their lines every time the ship anchors. The ship generally carries surplus fishing equipment, but passengers are free to use their own things as well. Guides move to and fro among the fishing crowd to give information on the region of the sea and identify the species caught. Amateurs can also avail of lessons on board.
